Unrushed Living: Embracing Simplicity and Savoring Life's Moments

DAY 10 OF 18

Trust: You Have a Place

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. JEREMIAH 17:7 NKJV

It wasn’t in her nature to fight the crowd. She preferred to be accepted and approved. But there were times when her heart knew that the direction of her peers was not the direction God was asking her to go. And when she made that difficult choice, she could see the good and feel the blessing in following His will. She didn’t always feel brave, but she was confident in God. And that made it all worthwhile.

It's strange how people can struggle so hard to be glad of their own paths, especially as they watch other people’s lives from the outside. But just imagine what we could all accomplish if we accepted—fully owned—the identity we were born with. God has been training us for it from day one. Other stories are most appealing when we see the things we want for ourselves looking really good on someone else. A bigger bank account, for example. More (or fewer) children. Big-city life or small-town homesteading. But you, friend, have a story written just for you, and no one else can play your role nearly as well as you can. In your hands, someone else’s life would fit like a stretched-out sweater. It would look like something, but not a good thing. And your life in someone else’s hands would fall flat. When you choose to accept the calling placed upon you, the world becomes a much, much better place.

God,

I admit sometimes it is really hard to let go and it can seem easier to figure out things on my own. I pray that no matter how I am feeling, or thinking, I can trust You with every decision I make. I don’t want to stray away from Your will for my life. I ask that You order my steps and grant me the confidence to wholeheartedly trust in You with everything.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.
