Connecting With God | Dive DeeperSample
Week 4 | Thankfulness
Day Two
Spend some time in prayer before you begin.Thank God for this word and ask Him to reveal to you His truth in it.
- Read Deuteronomy 8:1-10 again but this time try reading it in a different version than you did before, look up the definitions of words you don’t know, summarize what the passage is saying in your own words.
- Do some research, who wrote the book of Deuteronomy? When was it written? To whom was it written? What genre of writing is it (Historical narrative, poetry, wisdom literature, law, prophesy, parables, epistles)? Why is all of this important?
- Do you think this passage teaches us about God’s creation, man’s sin, God’s redemption of man, or God’s restoration of man to Himself? It can be more than one. Why is it important to think about this?
- How does reflecting on what God has done for His people in the past change how you view Him? How do you think you would respond to being humbled by God the way the Israelites were?
- What does this passage teach us about being thankful for what God has done for us and will do for us?
- Spend some time in prayer as you close, write a list of things God has done for you that seem mundane (food on your table, clothes on your back, etc). Thank Him for those provisions and ask Him for help to be obedient to what He is calling you to do.
