Devotions for When Life Is HardSample

A Life Well Lived
When dealing with difficult people, it’s easy to fall into the competition trap. We want to be better than the other person, and we want everyone to know we’re better. But God’s Word warns against this type of petty behavior. James encourages us to forget the competition and let our actions speak for themselves. When we are good at something, people notice. When we are humble and kind, we don’t have to exalt ourselves, because others will do it for us. When dealing with hard-to-handle people, it’s often best to simply be what we know we should be—humble, kind, and hardworking.
Prayer: Dear Father, help me to be more concerned with living right than with looking right. Amen.
