Uncommon

DAY 26 OF 40

“Be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love…” Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV

We’ve been learning that to have an uncommon, set-apart life means we have to ask Jesus for His relational advice. Scripture is jam-packed with insight and wisdom on treating one another.

Today, Paul is talking about being imitators of God. Do you have someone in your life that you want to be like? When we like quality in someone, we often do our best to imitate them. The same should be true in our relationship with God. We should love Him so much that we see the goodness of His character and desire to model it. We receive insight into God’s character from the Holy Bible.

Before we can become imitators, though, we need to leave some junk behind in order to move ahead.

Just because we have arrived here busted up doesn’t mean busted up is now the new status quo for our lives.

Just because your mom or dad screwed up…

Just because your first marriage ended…

Just because you might have lived with someone before marriage...

Just because you struggle with your sexual identity...

Don’t give up on the Creator’s wisdom of design for life - especially because the invitation to a new life is so graciously offered.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. Are you well acquainted with the character of God and His design for relationships? What are some ways you can become better acquainted with the character of God?
  2. What is some relational junk you need to leave behind?
  3. What is an area of relationships you would like to begin submitting to the Lord about? Be specific.

About this Plan

Uncommon

The purpose of this devotional is to take a deeper look into the "uncommon" living for those of us walking with Jesus. We are declared holy through Christ, so how do we walk in that holiness? How can we be set apart and walk out our holiness?
