The Depth of His Affection

Can you imagine giving yours or your child’s life for that of another? Yet that is exactly what God did. He allowed His one and only Son to be killed in a merciless way so that we, as sinners, could be forgiven. It is far beyond anything we could ever conceive of, let alone agree to do on anyone else’s behalf. It took this extreme act of God to bring us into the Kingdom.

God’s longing and desire for us, His children, is for us to comprehend and accept His great love, knowing that it surpasses our knowledge. And we need the Holy Spirit to even begin to interpret the depth of this affection.

The Cross and our acceptance of Jesus’ death for us enable God’s Spirit to dwell in us so that we may enjoy all His fullness. This is the greatest gift and most extravagant affection that has ever existed. He gave everything to have us, and we must give Him our everything in return.

Father, thank You for sacrificing your Son for me. Thank You for Your great love. I give You my life for Your purpose. Amen.
