Israel and the ChurchSample
Day 4 – The mystery of Israel’s unbelief
Many Jews do not believe that Jesus is their Messiah. They are even hostile towards the Gospel, which is understandable because so many Christians throughout the centuries have proclaimed fiercely anti-Jewish views. For example, the Christian Crusaders murdered every Jew who crossed their path and the Holocaust took place in Christian Europe.
Despite the fact that Jews do not believe in Jesus, the Lord God repeatedly emphasizes that He loves and will continue to love Israel! He does not regret calling Israel and He will always be faithful to His covenant and to what He has promised Israel! How could our salvation mean anything if God had broken His promises to Israel? Then His Word would be worth nothing. Instead, the Bible emphasizes God's grace: “In this way, all Israel will be saved. As it is written: ‘The Redeemer will come from Zion; He will turn godlessness away from Jacob.’” (Romans 11:26)
Paul even explains that there is a special aspect to Israel's hostility toward the Gospel. Because of this God's salvation also went out to the other nations, so that the whole world can come to know the God of Israel through the Lord Jesus and become His child!
Give thanks that we too may know the God of Israel and be His children through the work of the Lord Jesus.
