Life to the Full

Have you ever felt like you’re living your best life? It could have been sunbathing on a beach on holiday, eating a delicious meal or watching your favourite football team for the first time.

Although these things are great, they ultimately never last. Or the satisfaction they provide is only short term. The world around us says you ‘live your best life’ through seeking the best experience, the dream career, getting loads of money, being successful. BUT the Bible says something totally different. It says that life to the full is only found in Jesus and not in any experience that this world can offer.

In John 10:10, the Bible tells us this: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Jesus offers us all life to the full. We just have to choose to follow Him.

Ultimately there’s a choice. You can choose to follow Jesus, the Good Shepherd who looks after us and leads us into life giving pastures or you can allow thieves and robbers to dictate your life and ultimately steal, kill and destroy your life now and in the future. We know that these are strong words but they are the words of Jesus… and the words of Jesus can be trusted.

The question is, how do you want to respond to the life that is on offer to you from Jesus?

Life to the full doesn’t mean that life is easy, or that every prayer gets answered how we want it to, and that we won’t have trouble.

We may have unfulfilled dreams, heartbreak, loss, frustration, pain, disappointment, questions - the list goes on. But when you live this life with Jesus, you live it to the full.

Over the next few days, we will explore how we can live this life to the full as Jesus invites us to.

Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you, that you sent your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for me, so that I can be forgiven, free, and found by You.

Help me to keep following You and to receive life in all its fullness today.
