The Faith Code: 14 Day DevotionalSample
Grace for the Road Ahead
The call to be more like Jesus has never been an easy one, but if we’ve added some of the rituals and principles of the past ten days to our lives, we should be getting a little better at it. Our hope is that thinking of The Faith Code as a framework will make us better at loving the most essential things in life; we will be developing spiritual fruit—to put it another way, we will be developing grace.
Grace is an interesting spiritual muscle, because it is what helps us remember to forgive and it also gives us strength to endure. It keeps us from getting rattled when things try to knock us off course. Anxiety and anger get replaced with peace. Setbacks and mistakes are seen more as learning opportunities; fear gets replaced with hope. When we start doing these things, we are on our way to being free. So where is grace showing up in our lives? Is it guiding our interactions with others as it did Jesus? Or is there something else ruling our souls?
Prayer:
Thank you Jesus for the fruits of the spirit—for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Help us to develop spiritual fruit, that there would be an outpouring of grace flowing from within our lives into our relationships, our workplaces and our world.
