DAY 10 OF 12

Welcome Home

God’s posture towards the world is described in Scripture time and time again as one of redemption. The overarching story of the Bible can fairly be described as the story of humanity’s incapacity to move beyond its own sin and an intervening God exercising His divine power to save us from ourselves.

Sometimes, though, in dealing with realities like sin, righteousness, and holiness, we neglect the joyful heart that God displays in saving us.

Whether it be in the redemptive prophecies of the Old Testament, the parables of the New Testament, or the apocalyptic literature of Christ’s Revelation, God delights in redeeming the children whom He loves.

In following Jesus, we must make every effort not to lose sight of both the love of God that inspired such great personal sacrifice and the immense joy He takes in celebrating our redemption – for both ourselves and those to come!

Nehemiah 8:10 says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Are you experiencing the joy of the Lord? What are your initial responses and thoughts when you hear that God rejoices over you? Are you tasting the Lord’s goodness, or is His goodness simply a theory to you? God wants to welcome you into His house. He wants to pour His goodness and joy over you. Take a few minutes to become quiet before the Lord. Ask God to give you His joy. Ask Him to show you how much He delights in you. Come taste and see that the Lord is good! (Psalm 34:8)

About this Plan

Welcome Home

ShofarBand is a South African worship and songwriting collective. In January 2024, we released our live album, Welcome Home. This plan is based on those songs, telling the story of a God who is both transcendent and intimate, both high above and near to us. May this plan and these songs enlarge our view of the love and holiness of God, creating space for encounters with His Holy Spirit.
