Discovering Faith Amidst Uncertainty

DAY 7 OF 7

Time is Running Out

“Déborah, isn’t it difficult to be unmarried? Especially in your position?"

This question comes up more and more often as I get older.

I always wonder how best to answer. Because, may I tell you the truth? I'm so, so good with it! Yes, I am so happy to serve God! I am happy to see how many people can be blessed by this work, and I am happy to be able to entrust my future to God—to really trust.

And just as I may inspire you, I also have my role models. Abraham motivates me so much! Do you know what is written about him?

"Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’" (Romans 4:18 NIV).

That's how I live and that's how I always want to live!

Yeah, why should I sadly think about what I don't have when I can be happy with what I have? People may think that my clock is ticking, that my time is passing quickly. But God knows what He has planned for me and how my actions and attitudes will please Him and bless others just as He allowed Zechariah and his wife to become parents in their old age (see Luke 1:11-15 NLT). That was God’s plan for them, and He used them to be a blessing to all humankind. You too can trust that He will include you in His plan as you continue to serve Him!

Yes, continued faithful service is the key!

Zechariah also prayed for a child for many, many years. He could have lost hope because he felt that God had let him down. Perhaps he wondered why the prayers of others were answered, but not his own. Have you ever thought that way?

Instead, Zechariah continued to serve God faithfully, and then he experienced his miracle! (see Luke 1:8-11 NLT).

As you continue to serve God, you too will see Him meet you again and again! Yes, while you continue to serve Him, He will do what He is so good at: prepare your miracle!

Believe in Him. Trust Him. Keep serving Him. It gives God joy and glory, and you too can know this joy.

You are a miracle!

Déborah

Day 6

About this Plan

Discovering Faith Amidst Uncertainty

The testimony of Zechariah is usually visited around Christmas as the prelude to the birth of Jesus. We tend to skip over this to get to the "good part!" We can learn a lot about Zechariah’s faith, and lack thereof, through the circumstances that developed in His life. God used Zechariah, even in his doubt!
