Harvard University has an endowment of $28 billion. People often support education because they are grateful for what the school has done for them. Few of us can express gratitude with donations like that, but we can show gratitude to God in another huge way. God has done some incredible things for us. Most notably, God has made it possible for us to gain access to God Himself. The book of Romans describes how God has declared all people sinners in order to have mercy on all. God sent His Son to pay the sin debt of every person on earth. Now that Jesus Christ has come, died, and rose again, we can gain perfect standing with God. When we humbly turn to God by faith and accept His Son, God declares us "not guilty," and grants us eternal life. God then offers us access to himself—to all His greatness. We can tap into God's knowledge, wisdom, love, truth, holiness, and power. For those who come to God by faith in Jesus Christ, there is no eternal death sentence. Plus, when we believe, God sends His Spirit to live inside of us. God's Spirit teaches and inspires us. He gives us power to live triumphantly each day. The Apostle Paul ends his explanation of God's terrific plan to save people with this logic. He says since God has done all this for us, it is logical that we offer ourselves to Him; that in gratitude, we serve the One who has done all this for us.
