Daily Direction Reading Plan

DAY 111 OF 365

When Jim Collins surveyed successful businesses, he found that a company went from good to great when it focused on one Big Idea. God's people have one BIG purpose in the world. God calls us to promote His will and seek the transformation of people. We do this by exalting Jesus Christ, whom God has appointed ruler over heaven and earth. We accomplish this by relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, whom God sent to indwell those who belong to Him. In Peter's day, God's people were suffering at the hands of those who rejected God and His agenda. Peter wrote to encourage them. He urged them to humble themselves under the mighty hand of God, knowing that God would exalt them in due time. He cautioned them to maintain self-control and to stay alert because their enemy, the devil, is always prowling around like a roaring lion. He is looking for someone to devour. Resist him, says Peter. Stand firm in the faith. After you have suffered a little while, God will restore, support, strengthen, and place you on a firm foundation. Peter said, "Cast all your cares upon the Lord because He cares for you." Always remember that God called you to His eternal glory by means of Jesus Christ. Since our primary mission in the world is to exalt Jesus Christ and make Him known, we dare not stoop to a lesser goal.
