Daily Direction Reading Plan

DAY 102 OF 365

It may surprise you to know that many youths do not expect to reach adulthood. Sadly, some say, "If I live to be an adult..." Today, because of advancements in medicine, it is common for people to reach the age of 100, but who contemplates living a billion years? Yet God promises that those who know Him will live to be a billion years, and that will only be the beginning of their life to come. Of course, to live that long requires a new body, so God promises to provide new bodies to those who embrace His Son Jesus. David, the author of Psalm 16, reflects on this fantastic idea of eternal existence. He writes, "No wonder my heart is filled with joy, and my mouth shouts his praises! My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your godly one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever." Let's be real. Most people prefer to ignore thinking about life beyond this life. The evidence is substantial that every person alive will one day leave this earth and go somewhere. Yet God offers to those who accept His Son, His presence today to cope with life's complexities. And God promises that beyond this life, those who embrace His Son will enjoy God's presence far into the future, far more than a billion years—even forever. Tell me, why would anyone in his or her right mind pass up an offer like that?
