Daily Direction Reading PlanSample

Getting driving directions from the Internet is a handy way to plan a trip—except sometimes the maps are not accurate. If you look closely, the site alerts you that local conditions may change and their directions may not be accurate. A situation similar to that occurred to Apollos, a first century Bible teacher. He was a great speaker and knew the Hebrew Scriptures quite well, but his knowledge was incomplete. He had not heard that the Messiah, God's Lamb, had come and sacrificed himself on the cross for our sins. Apollos preached what he knew, but his message was incomplete. Fortunately for him, a mature couple heard him speak and took him aside to update his message. Aquila and Priscilla invited Apollos into their home and tutored him about Jesus Christ. From this tutoring, Apollos became a powerful minister of the Gospel. Because Apollos was teachable and willing to listen, he improved his capacity to serve the Lord. Sometimes even gifted people need addition preparation to improve their effectiveness. We should never feel we have reached the pinnacle of our learning. It does not matter whether we are involved in church ministries, business, social services, or raising our families—we can always learn more. The more we learn from the right sources, the more effective we will become in our service.
