Jesus is the Healer
In a world overwhelmed with sickness and pain, it is not surprising that Jesus’ most common miracle was healing. Often Jesus had compassion upon seeing someone who was ill, demon-possessed, or injured and healed them. Jesus did not stop only at healing physical sickness, but He also healed people of their spiritual sickness of sin through forgiveness. Overall, Jesus is our Healer.
Over and over in the Bible, we see that Jesus healed people, both physically and spiritually. Matthew 8:17 tells us that on the Cross Jesus took up our infirmities and bore our diseases. It is by His Salvific Work on the Cross that we experience both physical and spiritual healing.
First Peter 2:24 specifies that His Cross frees us from the disease of sin. Sin is a spiritual sickness that leads to both physical and eternal death. But because of the Work Christ accomplished on the Cross, we are completely forgiven by God and healed from sin.
Because Jesus is a Healer in our lives, we can come to Him with our pain and problems. Whether you are struggling with mental health, emotional struggles, physical pain, or spiritual issues, you can always go to Jesus in prayer and ask for healing and strength.
About this Plan
In order to grow deeper with Jesus, it's important to understand who He is. By knowing who Jesus is, we can recognize how He works in our lives as well as how we can live more like Him. To explain who Jesus is in this devotional, we want to highlight how Jesus is human, God, Messiah, the Good Shepherd, Healer, the True Vine, and the Way, Truth, and Life.
