DAY 3 OF 7

Jesus is Messiah

There are countless prophecies throughout the Old Testament, all foretelling the arrival of the Messiah. For centuries, the Israelites waited for the arrival of this Messiah who would deliver and redeem them. All of this was about the coming of Jesus, who is the Messiah, promised to deliver and redeem His people from spiritual death.

The word “Messiah” is a Hebrew word that means “Anointed One.” In the Bible, a person with an anointing is someone who has been set apart by God for a special purpose. The Greek word for Messiah is “Christ,” so every time that we say, Jesus Christ, we are declaring that Jesus is the Anointed One who was set apart by God and prophesied for centuries with the Special Purpose of Delivering and Redeeming His people.

Jesus came to Earth to deliver and rescue us from our sins and to redeem us as His Chosen People. God’s Plan was centered around Jesus being our Messiah who will free us from sin and death and bring us into a relationship with Himself. Through His Death, Burial, and Resurrection, Jesus the Messiah overcame the powers of evil in this world.

While Jesus fulfilled many of the Old Testament prophecies, there are still some prophecies that have yet to be fulfilled. Now, we are eagerly waiting for His Second Coming to fulfill the rest of the prophecies where Jesus will destroy sin and death and establish His Kingdom forever.

About this Plan

Jesus Is

In order to grow deeper with Jesus, it's important to understand who He is. By knowing who Jesus is, we can recognize how He works in our lives as well as how we can live more like Him. To explain who Jesus is in this devotional, we want to highlight how Jesus is human, God, Messiah, the Good Shepherd, Healer, the True Vine, and the Way, Truth, and Life.
