The Gospel of MarkSample
Peter has a typically human response to The Transfiguration of Jesus. He suggests building tents for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. In a way, Peter’s response as a Jew might not have been as bad as many commentaries and preaches make it out to be; the presence of God has been confined to tents or temples for generations. However, this event was showing that in Jesus the presence of God has now rested upon a person, the Son of Man. Rather than staying up on mountains, God was coming down to meet with humanity in the form of Jesus.
As Jesus comes down the mountain, he shows just this. He delivers a boy who has been possessed by an impure spirit.
