The Life of DavidSample
Day 10: 1 Sam. 19 x Aaron Tedeschi, Levite at UPPERROOM
David trusted the Lord. With everything he was and everything he had, he trusted the Lord. With his very life, he trusted the Lord. Even as his father-in-law was trying to kill him, David trusted the Lord. His trust expressed itself by continuing to honor King Saul and escape from harm rather than defend himself or fight back. This reminds me of the many times Jesus was nearly stoned or killed "before his time." Rather than retaliating or defending Himself with His words, He would simply slip away and escape harm. Sometimes, we may have people in our lives whose desire is to harm us. But as we commit our lives into the hands of our glorious Father, we need not defend ourselves or fight back; rather, let us hide in the shadow of His wings and trust that He alone will deliver us from harm's way. He is our great protector!
Prayer: Father, today and in the days ahead, if situations should arise beckoning us to fight back or defend ourselves, I ask that we find ourselves hidden and protected in You, our Most High. I ask that Your peace would consume our hearts and minds, covering us from any harm or insult–not to be seen as cowering away in passivity, but rather, stepping forward in grace and trusting in You, our protector. I thank You for Your steadfast love that keeps us. In Jesus' name, amen.

About this Plan
“The Life of David” is an in-depth study through 1-2 Samuel. Together, we will look at how David stewarded his heart through the complexities and challenges he faced. This month-long study will bring biblical context to why we do what we do as a community: ministering to the Lord and establishing a resting place for Him.
