Day 7 - You Are Loved

Do you ever feel unloved? It is common to feel this way when you are fatherless. Growing up, I always knew that my mom loved me, but it felt as if I was half loved because there was no fatherly love at times. During special events in my life, it would have been nice to have that fatherly love right by my side. One day during my eighth-grade year, my English teacher asked me to write a poem for a competition. I always enjoyed writing, so I started. At first, it was hard, but then God brought a poem to my heart where I could express my inner feelings of fatherlessness. The following are the last four stanzas in that poem:

Then I realized GOD is on my side,

He will never leave me and has never lied.

So my Father now is God above,

He has been ever since I trusted in His love.

God does indeed love us. He loved us so much that he sent His own Son to die for us.

CHALLENGE:

Think to yourself for a moment about what you believe love really is. Many people differ in their opinion of love. For all of us, love is a needed act or gift toward us. When we know we are loved, our day is better, and the sun seems to shine a little brighter. What happens, though, when we do not feel loved? This is one of the most crucial parts of a fatherless individual’s life. Many of the bad statistics resulting from fatherlessness have a direct connection with the lack of love in the child or teen’s life. No matter how unloved you may feel at times, you should be comforted to know that Christ loves you. He loved you so much that He was crucified on a cross, stabbed in the side with a sword, spat upon, forced to wear a crown of thorns, mocked, and ultimately persecuted for most of his life. He loves us so much that He died for us. Galatians 2:20 tells us that, as Christians, we are crucified with Christ. Many times, our lives will not be easy, but we can rest assured that no matter what problems we face, we have the ability to get through them simply by resting in the love of Christ.

We challenge you today to remember how much you are loved!

ACTION:

Write a letter to Jesus thanking Him for what He has done for your life.

Dear Lord, I thank You for dying for me and for giving me hope of eternity in Heaven with You! I love You, and thank You for loving me! Amen.
