As we’ve learned, humility isn’t always an easy choice. It’s certainly one that doesn’t come naturally to us! As humans, our first instinct will always be to think of ourselves first and foremost. Thankfully, this is where the Spirit of the Lord comes in. Try as we might, we can’t consistently humble ourselves without a little supernatural help. But when we ask the Holy Spirit to humble us before the Lord—when we seek Him to help us put others before ourselves, to see God’s power over us, to believe in God’s presence over us, to know God in all things and above all things—we can trust that the Spirit will do it.

The result of this prayer for humility? We’ll be lifted up in ways we might not have even expected. We’ll be stronger, better, and more at peace each time we let the Holy Spirit work in us to move us toward humility. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to do just that! Pray for His leading to choose humility in any situation. Ask Him to remind you that humility is what will ultimately lift you up in the Kingdom of God.
