HOLY SPIRIT: OUR COUNSELOR

Have you ever felt yourself struggling to make the right decision? Did you know that the average human makes 35,000 choices every day?! That's a lot of choices! Thankfully, as Christians, we have the Holy Spirit to help us make wise choices throughout our day.

The Holy Spirit has always existed, along with the Father and the Son, as part of the Trinity. In the Old Testament, God poured out His Spirit into certain people to accomplish His will. The Holy Spirit enabled them to prophesy, perform miracles, and make wise decisions. But God is a God of love, and He wanted to give His Spirit as a gift to all people. He wanted His Spirit to dwell in all who believed in Him and wanted everyone to have the chance of salvation. God promised in Isaiah 44:3, "I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring." God sent His son, Jesus, to fulfill His promise as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus paid the price for us on the cross. Through salvation, the blood of Jesus purifies us. It cleanses us from all unrighteousness so that the Holy Spirit can dwell within us.

The Holy Spirit helps us remember the Lord's commands and teaches us right from wrong. Knowing that we have the Holy Spirit living in us can give us hope and something to look to in times of uncertainty. The Holy Spirit can help us with everyday decisions like what words should come out of our mouths, or how we should act towards others, or guide us to make important decisions. Whatever it is, the Holy Spirit will help you. I pray that as you go about your week, you will look to God, read His Word, and let the Holy Spirit lead you in your choices.
