The Peace God GivesSample
Having seen the legal facts that back up our peace with GOD, we must know how to experience and walk fully in this blessing. The next few days will be devoted to showing us how to do this. As we study them one after the other, let us do well to meditate on them and practice them.
The first thing that we will look at is:
SETTING YOUR MIND ON GOD.
We must learn to set our mind on God, this simply refers to trusting in the Lord daily. As we learn to trust that the Lord is with us and will never forsake us, we will experience His presence with us and His peace overflowing in us. Fear is not meant to be an experience of the believer. Our hearts should be in perfect peace because the Lord is at peace with us.
One of the ways we can learn to set our minds on God is to learn to magnify His word and covenant above our experiences and situations. We must keep in mind that whatever we magnify will become bigger. If we magnify in our hearts the word of God and the fact that He is on our side by daily confessing this truth, we will see that our minds will be set on Him and His word and presence will be greatly magnified in our hearts. But when we focus on the situations that trouble us and we keep talking about how weighed down we are by them and how they are likely to destroy us, it becomes hard to set our minds on God and we are thrown into a pool of confusion, fear, and distress.
Setting our minds on God is a daily practice of faith in God and His word. We must learn to confess God's word, agree that they are indeed true and unfailing, and gird our hearts with those words every day.
Action Point:
Practice setting your mind on God daily by intentionally trusting in Him and His promises. Begin each day by confessing God's word and declaring His faithfulness over your life, allowing His peace to guard your heart and mind in every situation.
