The Peace God GivesSample

The Peace God Gives

DAY 2 OF 6

For us to further comprehend the weight of God's peace available to us, we must look at two important legal facts. Understanding these legal facts will aid our assurance in the ever-abiding peace of God towards us. Let us quickly look at them:

1) The Covenant of God to every believer is a covenant of peace.

Isaiah 54:10

For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.

This scripture shows that the covenant that we have been called to enjoy is a covenant of peace with God and peace in God. It is a covenant that makes us have perfect harmony with God. Because of the covenant, we can be sure that God is always on our side, fighting our battles, looking out for us, and holding our hands in dark days. By the Immutability of this covenant, God can never be against us. God will always be kind to us. God will forever be good to us on account of this covenant. It is a covenant of the peace of God.

Another important thing to see in this text is that God will never renege or back out from this covenant. It will never be removed. It is an eternal covenant. There will never be a time when God will decide not to be at peace with us or supply the peace needed in any situation. Our confidence in God must be rock solid because He will never turn us down or turn us away. We can be eternally assured of His eternal peace flowing to us daily.

2) Christ is our covenant man.

Colossians 1:19-20

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell.

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth or things in heaven.

Ephesians 2:13-14

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

The scriptures above give us yet another blessed insight into the legal fact that backs up our possession of the peace of God; it is that Christ is our covenant man. This covenant of peace was not between God and men but between God and Christ on our behalf. Christ through His blood entered into this covenant for us. We are only beneficiaries of His allegiance to the covenant between Him and God. This means that the peace of God flows to us not because of what we are or what we have done but because of what Christ has done for us. Christ is our covenant man and His appearance before God has settled our peace forever. In this we must rejoice: that our covenant man is ever faithful and abides forever, therefore we will always enjoy the peace of God.

Action Point:

Take time to meditate on the covenant of peace that God has made with you as a believer. Remind yourself of this unshakable promise whenever you feel anxious or troubled, knowing that God's peace is always available to you.
