Overcoming Fear

DAY 1 OF 5

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1.9

God created man with a soul full of emotions, and one of those emotions is fear. Who among us has never felt fear?

Fear is a fascinating and also frightening emotion. Often unknown in its depths to many, it has an enormous influence on many of us.

Everything that God created is good, and if everything that God created is good, then fear is also good. Fear was created by God as a protection for us in dangerous situations. It is an alert from our brain that something is not right or may not be right.

The fear of crossing a street and being hit by a car makes us pay the necessary attention when crossing it. And by crossing the street carefully, we avoid an accident and are thus protected by fear.

However, the fear that was created by God to protect us can also be a blockage for us, and it is here that we need to be alert to its action on us.

Satan wants to use fear, which was something God created for our benefit, as something evil, making us vulnerable to his actions in our lives. How many families are destroyed, how many careers ended, and how many people are sick with phobias because of fear? Psychology explains each of the phobias, but we cannot deny that fear is a chain that binds many Christians.

The Word of God is very clear about the Lord's desire that we not live bound by any kind of fear because fear prevents us from doing many things. It paralyzes our reasoning, destroys our courage, and prevents us from having a clear vision of God's will for us.

Have you ever stopped doing something you really wanted to do because of fear? Probably yes, and you are not alone.

God called us, just as he called Joshua, to be strong and courageous, not to walk in fear, but to walk in the confidence that we have a God who is for us, goes before us, and gives us victory over all our enemies.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
