Seeds: What and Why

DAY 3 OF 4

Day 3- I am from a new seed! …so now what?

So, you’re a new seed, set free from the limitations of the natural seed you came from and the sinful, fallen nature that came with it. Now, what about us changes when this happens?

(1 Peter 1:22-23, [AMP])

“Since by your obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves for a sincere love of the believers, [see that you] love one another from the heart [always unselfishly seeking the best for one another], for you have been born again [that is, reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] not of seed which is perishable but [from that which is] imperishable and immortal, that is, through the living and everlasting word of God” (1 Peter 1:22-23, [AMP]).

“And what does an immortal seed look like, what should we look forward to? We see it there in verse 22, “...a sincere love of the believers, [see that you] love one another from the heart [always unselfishly seeking the best for one another]”. This love has been placed inside of us when we became born again, but it is our duty to let the love be demonstrated by us and not stifled” (Matthew 5:15-16, [AMP]).

This may seem all too simple, but we see this confirmed throughout the scriptures:

(Galatians 5:13-14, [NLT])

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Galatians 5:13-14, [NLT]).

(1 Corinthians 13:2, [NLT])

“If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:2, [NLT]).

It makes further sense to us, when we simply look back to where this new seed came from:

(John 3:16, [AMP])

“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16, [AMP]).

LOVE is the type of seed you are.

Reflect today on what it means to be remade in love, the next scriptures break down what that love looks like. What would your life look like if you exemplified each of these expressions of love?

(1 Corinthians 13:4-7, [NLT])

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7, [NLT]).
