Encountering JesusSample
DISCOVER
It’s interesting that Jesus bid Peter to come to Him upon the disciple's eager request. Jesus did not calm the storm first. Instead, He invited this lifelong professional fisherman to do the absurd and unthinkable by asking Peter to step out of the boat into the stormy wind and rough waters. The loving rebuke of Peter's lack of faith was because he took his eyes off Jesus and instead focused on the storm around him.
We often think peace is found when the waves of life are calm. But Jesus never promised us smooth sailing. Instead, He promised to never leave us or forsake us. Lasting peace in every storm is only found in the presence of the Prince of Peace, Jesus.
LEARN
Peter's walk on the water teaches us that amid chaos, we can have peace if we keep our eyes on Jesus. The storms of life give us every good reason to be afraid. But Jesus is bigger than every seemingly hopeless, dark, and impossible storm we endure right now.
APPLY
We should highlight, meditate, and even memorize, every promise in His Word that assures us of His presence until it is encountered, embedded, and engraved firmly in our hearts. If we do this, we can remain immovable and unshakable inside the storms that life throws our way. Read, write down, underline, listen, and study these promises: Isaiah 41:10; Hebrews 13:5; Matthew 28:20; Psalm 55:22; John 14:18; 1 Peter 5:7; Hebrews 13:6.

About this Plan
Join us as we walk through seven encounters with Jesus. Just as Jesus transformed these individuals, the narratives of your shame, fear, guilt, and failure find redemption when met by the grace bought by His death on the cross. Your response to encountering Jesus has the power to transform the darkness of your story into a picture of grace, and redemption. How will you respond when you encounter Jesus?
