Full of It! Living a Life FULL of Faith.Sample
Are you experiencing REST right now? For many of you, your rest might need to come from life's physical demands of life, but for many others, the mental and emotional stress is pulling you away from experiencing God’s peace.
You see, when we believe and trust him in what we can’t see, we enter His rest. He says we not only need to hear the WORD but not come short of believing it! The unity of Scripture, with our faith, brings that rest. Rest in the midst of the unknown, pain, and frustration; Rest despite our circumstances, rest from fear, from the comparison, and from playing God ourselves in our lives. True Godly rest comes when we TRUST God and his word – when we believe him.
Hebrews 4 points out that we are actually being disobedient when we don’t practice this rest. And that obedience requires releasing control of things in our lives, whether it’s other people, circumstances, or expectations, and allowing God the freedom to work in those areas instead.
Psalm 81:16 says, “and with honey from the rock, I would satisfy you.” The rock is the hard place you’re in. The honey is the sweetness of the peace and presence of the Holy Spirit. When you reach the honey spot, it’s because your trust in God has given you an understanding and acceptance that God is so much bigger and better at guiding and working things together.
God brings sweetness from pain, not in spite of it. I’ve realized that in my past pains – the sweetness was my surrender because the surrender in my life is where I have most richly encountered the Holy Spirit. When we are at the end of ourselves, we are most aptly able to see the beginning of HIM. Surrender gives us freedom from expecting circumstances to bring us relief and happiness. It’s what positions our hearts to desire and receive the presence of Jesus above it all.
In the midst of your struggles today, cry out to God, declaring your surrender, to fully accept and activate his rest in your heart. And then pray for the Peace of God to dwell within that rest.
