This is one of the hardest passages in the Bible to read. Can you imagine the pain Job must have felt when his own wife tells him to give up on God and life? Everyone in his life has given up on better for him. They think he's a cursed man and there's no hope. They can't understand why he's still holding out for God to show up and save him. "Wouldn't it be better to give up on the whole ‘God thing’ and just make the best life you can for the rest of your days? What has following God gotten you anyway--look at your life!"
But Job sees something they don't. Not with eyes, but with faith. He sees that God doesn't just give only easy days; he also gives adversity. And both are worth our time.
Think it Over: Do you ever wonder if it's worth it to follow God? Like maybe life would be easier and better if you did what you wanted? What usually causes you to think about that?
