Did You Not Get The Message?
There are times when things need to be repeated. Classroom teachers are known for repeating instructions countless times because students’ attention spans are limited. Ever been on an airplane “listening” to the safety procedures? Passengers seem to tune it out simply because we have heard it dozens of times. Not so with Joshua. The great Moses has passed, and now he is responsible for leading God’s people to their promised land. Four times in today’s reading we find the words “Be strong and courageous!” The message is clear. The message has eternal consequences – your strength and courage are necessary for the task God has called you to do. No time to waver or be wishy-washy. Challenges are coming! The assignment must be done and God promises to be with us. Whatever God has given you to do, today the command echoes across eternity – "Be strong and courageous!”
Prayer: Almighty God of heaven and earth, I praise Your Holy Name. You promised to be with me for the challenges I am facing. I ask for the strength and courage to face them with Your power. Bless Your Holy Name, Amen.
