Discomfort: We will be stretched
Life as a follower of Jesus is a journey through terrains of both comfort and discomfort. It is in the uncomfortable spaces where we often find ourselves being stretched and tested. God's calling on our lives rarely leads us down easy paths, but instead, it pushes us beyond our limits, refining us into vessels for His divine purpose.
In discomfort, we learn to embrace growth through the challenges it presents. Discomfort is a sign that we are growing and being refined for God's purpose, akin to an athlete stretching and pushing their limits to grow stronger. It stretches us spiritually, helping us mature in faith, building perseverance and resilience.
In these challenging moments, we may feel weak and inadequate, but it is precisely in these times that God's grace abounds, lifting us up and providing the strength we need. We can lean on His grace, trusting that His power is made perfect in our weaknesses. Living in the tension of discomfort entails embracing the unknown and trusting God's plan. It's about holding on to faith, even when circumstances are uncertain. God's call often takes us out of our comfort zones, and it's in this tension that we learn to fully rely on Him.
Let us remember that God is with us in our discomfort. His hand is guiding us through the stretching process, and His grace is sufficient for all that He has called us to. May we find joy in the discomfort, knowing that God is shaping us for His glory.
Questions to ponder:
- Can I recall instances in my life where discomfort and challenges led to personal growth and resilience?
- How can my experiences with discomfort help me empathize and show compassion towards others going through challenging times?
About this Plan
We were all called to live on mission. When God calls us to something, there tends to be an internal process that we all go through – discovery, response, acceptance, trust, safety, discomfort, and confidence. Together, we'll walk through each step of the process and explore how God can use our "ordinary, mundane" lives for purpose that extends past ourselves...
