Two Kingdoms - Part 3Sample

Two Kingdoms - Part 3

DAY 7 OF 7

Read Matthew 18:10 - 14

The Parable of the Lost Sheep is perhaps one of the most well-known parables. Even if you've heard it many times before, try and read it with fresh eyes today. Here we have a picture of a loving shepherd, the Father, who cares about each one of His sheep. If it's not the will of the Father that anyone should perish, what implications does that have for us? As we conclude this reading plan, let's take some time to think outwards.

If we are part of the flock of sheep that are with the shepherd, the Father, who are the ones that are lost? It can be easy to go through life enjoying the love and comfort we have found in Jesus without considering those who are living lost or separated from Him. See how the Father rejoices over the sheep that has gone astray? It is His heart and desire that the lost sheep might be found, and we have a part to play in the story.

Go deep: Today, pray that God will give you a deep compassion for the lost. Consider all of the good things that God has given you and all that He has done for you. Wouldn't it be amazing for those in your family, your friendship group, or your school to be found by the Father also?! Invite the Lord to soften your heart and give you compassion and love for those around you.

Be bold: Who do you know that is living lost? Who has gone astray? Why not send a message to somebody today who used to walk with Jesus but is perhaps living far from Him at the moment? Who do you know that has never heard the good news of the gospel? Could you be brave enough to share your testimony with them? Think about how the Father rejoices over those that are found!

Memorise it: "So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish." - Matthew 18:14 NIV
