Two Kingdoms - Part 3Sample

Two Kingdoms - Part 3

DAY 2 OF 7

Start out by reading Matthew 13:24-30 and 36-43.

Jesus loved to teach His followers by telling stories that made sense to the people listening. He knew we would need things broken down in simple terms in order for us to understand how we can make the Kingdom of God seen here on earth. He says the Kingdom of God is like "a man who sowed good seed in his field!" and we (the sons and daughters of the Kingdom) are the good seed!

He doesn't pretend life will be easy for us, either. We WILL grow up among weeds. We WILL have to deal with the tricks and deceit of the enemy. But there is hope! Verse 30 says, "Let them grow together until the harvest and, at harvest time, I will tell the reapers, “First gather the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; but gather the wheat (you and me!) into my barn."

He has a plan for us. He will gather us to Him. We are not alone.

Go deep: Do you live afraid of the weeds (sin, deceit, lies) growing around you? Why? What are you actually afraid of? Do you believe Jesus' promise that He is the one who has sown you (v 37) into your field, and He is taking care of you as you grow? Be honest and tell the Father how you feel and what you think.

Be bold: Read V41 again. There is a promise there! Those who seek God will shine forth like the sun! The Kingdom of God will shine through you here on earth! Don't let the weeds of your life stop you from shining the light of the Father in this worldly kingdom. Be bold today and tell someone one way you have seen God at work in your life. Be a light for others in your world.

Memorise it: "Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear and heed My words." - Matthew 13:43 NIV
