Identity: Becoming The True YouSample
Masterpiece
Halfway through my day, I caught a glimpse of myself. It was a no makeup, classic mom hair bun, sweats and t-shirt kind of day. I had one thought: “Wow, you are not looking so pretty.” Imagine where my thoughts wandered from there. It could have easily derailed my day.
I wonder if you have also let those thoughts overwhelm your day and define you. Have you walked away from that mirror feeling like a failure while looking like a disaster? What labels do you put on? How do you define yourself?
I‘ve recently read a quote saying, “Whatever you believe on the inside will manifest on the outside.” In that case, it’s time you become a masterpiece.
A masterpiece has been described as a work done with extraordinary skill, especially an artistic achievement. As a matter of fact, when defining masterpiece, I found words to define the creator of the masterpiece were things like “skilled,” “imaginative,” “intellectual,” and “sculptor.”
What we know about our skilled, imaginative, intellectual sculptor, God, is that we were created in His image. His work is always wonderful. That is why if—or when—we criticize ourselves, we are criticizing His work. Ouch.
He made you unique – fearfully and wonderfully. We are not average or ordinary. We are His handiwork, His workmanship, and His masterpiece.
Yes, really. We are His masterpiece!
Read this aloud: I am a masterpiece. I don't have to do anything to become one because I am one already! Regardless of what I look like or how I feel, I am a MASTERPIECE.
And on that note, let's adjust our messy mom buns. We’ve got some world changing to do.
