Ask Jesus to Answer the Door

A Sunday school teacher one day sat down with her only student, a five-year-old girl. The teacher asked the girl, “Where does Jesus live?” The little girl replied, “He lives in my heart.” The teacher, wanting to test the little girl, asked, “What do you do when the Devil comes and knocks on the door of your heart?” The little girl paused for a moment and then smiled. “I ask Jesus to open the door.”

God’s children need to remember this: Satan is crouching at the door; he wants to rule over you, to make you sin. So next time he knocks, ask Jesus to open the door. Why do we need Jesus? Because the Devil is older than us, he’s smarter than us, he knows what tempts us, and he knows how to exploit us when we’re weak. Though we are weak, thanks be to God that we know a strong Savior and just saying the very name “Jesus Christ” makes the demons shudder and tremble. And honestly, that’s what I sometimes do when I’m tempted. I verbally pray out loud “Jesus Christ, help me; I know there is power in the name of Jesus Christ.” Do I look crazy? Yes! But does it work? Yes! Should you try it? Absolutely!
