Romans - Part 5: ELECTIONSample
Walk in Faith, Putting off Our Unbelief
When I was assigned this passage, I opened my Bible and read it in the New King James Version, which is the Version I typically read. I must say, I was struggling with the language of these two verses. I explored a few other versions and found that in The Passion Translation, the verses became more clear to me. If you want to check it out, you can add that translation for free, using this Bible App.
Our God is such an awesome God! He is kind, but also a just God.
He expects us as Christians to obey Him and His Word. He has taken us from the wild olive tree (the things of this world) and grafted us into the tree that He has cultivated (living a holy life). When we fall into unbelief, we fall away from the Lord, but God is waiting patiently for our return. There is that struggle to trust in the Lord, walk in faith, and put off our unbelief.
Hebrews 11:1 NKJ - “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
At the age of 8, I developed an ingrown toenail. I had to have my toenail removed, but that didn't solve the issue. I ended up with a staph infection in every toe on my left foot. I had doctor appointment after doctor appointment and antibiotics that quit working because I became immune to them. It was a terrible ordeal, I prayed at night that God would just take my toe. My body battled this for 3 years. I felt upset at God at times. Finally, after three years of frustration, pain, medications, and twice having that toenail removed, I looked up to the heavens and told the Lord, I am going to trust you Jesus for my healing. I told my parents that I wanted to cancel my doctor's appointment (for a third toenail removal) and trust that the Lord would heal me. Within one week, I was completely healed and have never had an issue since.
Once I believed and put the unbelief behind me, the Lord was able to do His work. 2 Corinthians 5:17.
The Lord is loving and kind, but we have to trust Him and walk in faith. When we fall into disbelief, we separate ourselves from Him. Don't let the things of this world come between you and your trust in the Lord.
