Romans - Part 5: ELECTIONSample

Romans - Part 5: ELECTION

DAY 27 OF 35

Where Are We Blind?

Paul is saying that Gentile Christians should have a grateful attitude toward their salvation, and not look down on the Jewish people who decided not to receive Christ. The Jews have an eternal purpose with God and will be restored to their rightful covenant position with God in the future.

But, how does this passage on the eternal purposes of whole people groups apply to us as individuals today?

There are several important questions we need to ask ourselves based on this passage.

Verses 7-8 describe how God gave the Israelites a ‘spirit of stupor’ and ‘eyes that they could not see’ concerning receiving Jesus Christ. II Corinthians 4:4 describes how the ‘god of this age’ blinded the minds of people who do not believe, Jews or Gentiles.

II Thessalonians 2:11

Can you ask God if there is anything you are blind to?

Is there any blinding spirit that is blinding us to accomplishing God’s will in our life?

Are we blind to the unsaved in our families and community who are currently on their way to hell?

Are we blind to the spiritual darkness of some of our government leaders, school influencers, media censorship, or business leaders (e.g., pharmaceuticals)?

In Romans 11:21, Paul says that if God did not spare the natural branches (Israelites), He may not spare us either.

The good news is that we can cry out to God to give us eyes to see what He sees, to see the harvest of souls that need to be saved.

In Revelations 3:18, Jesus counsels us to buy from Him gold refined in the fire, that we may become rich, and white garments to cover our shameful nakedness, and salve to anoint our eyes that we may see.
