Marvel at the MoonSample
Where Does the Moon Go?
Have you ever wondered where the Moon goes in the daytime? Nowhere! It’s still up there in the sky. And sometimes you can see it. Yes, even when the Sun is shining. And that just feels extra-marvelous!
Conditions have to be just right to see the Moon in the daytime, though. First, the Moon needs to reflect enough of the Sun’s light to show up in the blue sky. This usually happens closer to the Full Moon. Also, the Moon must be high enough in the sky to be seen, which means it must be above the horizon (huh-RIE-zuhn)—that’s the line that separates the Earth from the sky. That happens for only about twelve hours a day, and only about six of those hours are in the daytime. That’s why we can’t see the Moon all day long.
The Moon isn’t the only “nighttime” object in the daytime sky. All the other planets and stars are up there too—and with the right kind of telescope, you can see them.
Just like God. He’s always there. But when problems pop up, when you get tackled by troubles, or when challenges just keep coming, it can be hard to see Him. To help you remember God is always with you, create a memory book. Every time God answers a prayer, helps you, or shows you something amazing about Himself, write it down in a special journal. Add drawings or pictures if you want. And the next time you need a reminder that God is with you, just flip through your book.
God, sometimes I feel all alone, but You’ve promised to never leave me. Help me to see the ways You are with me today. Amen.
