Keep On Seeking

After reading on the beach at sunset, I realized I had lost my keys as I went to unlock my apartment door. I remember placing my keys on the top of my bag, and they must have fallen out when I took out my beach blanket.

I prayed as I went back to the beach. Lord, please find my keys. But as it got dark, I realized my keys were gone. That night, I got into my apartment through my neighbor’s balcony. The next morning, I was ready to request a replacement set of keys, but God urged me to try again.

God, those keys are long gone. I won’t be able to find them, I thought. But God told me to look again. As soon as it was light out, I headed down to the beach. I shuffled my feet in the sand to see if I could feel anything, and my foot struck something hard. God had found my keys!

As I praised God on the beach, he reminded me of his Word. Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find.

I shook my head. I had almost given up because I thought finding my keys was impossible. If I never went back to look for the keys again, I wouldn’t have found them.

How many times have you talked yourself out of praying for something because you thought it would never happen? Or how many times have you been afraid to ask God for the desires on your heart because you thought he would say no?

God wants to bless us with gifts as our heavenly Father. But some of us never ask God for the things he puts on our heart. And if we don’t ask or even try, we may not receive what God wants to give us.

What do you need to ask God for today?

Prayer

God, you hear every prayer, and you know the desires on my heart. Today I come to you in faith, and I ask for [insert what God is putting on your heart]. Nothing is impossible for you, and I trust you will grant the desires of my heart as I seek you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
