ReleasedSample

As I sat in my patio room, ready to be released and trust God, something came over me. You might call it craziness. I call it my control freak, type A personality. I was praying over an upcoming vacation when I decided to check the forecast. Suddenly, my mental voice went from trusting God to a complete meltdown. “Oh, no! It might rain. What if we can’t find covered parking at the airport and it hails? What if our window is busted out? I’d better search right now for nearby glass repair shops. But what if the storm causes our flight to be delayed? I’d better search for nearby hotels too. And food vouchers. Does the airline give those? What if we get food poisoning and need a pharmacy? I’d better search for a hotel near an urgent care or hospital. I wonder if nearby doctors take our health care insurance?”
What. On. Earth!
I know and you know that God wants us free from the bondage of worry and fear. But, for me, not worrying is giving up control. But God’s word to me that day, and His word to you right now is this: God will not leave you empty-handed. When you fully release to God, He fills your once-bound spiritual life with freedom of joy, peace, and love.
Reflection: So, are you ready to release control to God?
