ReleasedSample
No way to escape. That’s what the Israelites thought when the very thing that once tormented them showed up in their peripheral vision. The Egyptians who had released the Israelites from bondage were chasing them down. The only way for the Israelites to escape was to cross a sea. Not a stream. Not a puddle. A dangerous sea. The only way for escape was God.
Instead of relying on the God who had just saved them from bondage, the Israelites panicked. But God is the God of the impossible. God can do anything. And He did. God caused a wind to blow just perfectly so that the sea parted and dry ground – not muddy soil – made a perfect pathway for freedom.
Not only that, but after the Israelites safely crossed, the pursuing Egyptian army got stuck in the middle of the dry seabed, only to have God himself cause the waters to return, drowning them, Israel’s enemy and the cause of their oppression and torment.
Reflection: Have you given up? Have you given up on being free from guilt or fear? Have you allowed grief or addiction to consume you, seeing no way out? Turn to God. Fully. He is the God of the impossible escape.
