Flawless: How to See Yourself Through God’s Eyes

DAY 4 OF 7

The Worth of a Teen – A Devotion for Teens

Whether positive or negative, the view you have about yourself during your teen years will often stay with you well into adulthood. So, how do you see yourself? Let’s learn how to find our self-worth.

As teens, we often allow peer pressure, social media, movies, or social situations negatively impact our self-image and our worth. Instead, God has already determined your worth!

His Word says:
You are made in God’s image.
Jesus loves you.
God has a plan for you.

Your feelings about yourself, positive or negative, do not trump the facts of God’s Word.

When we find our identity or significance in any thing or person other than Christ, we will always be disappointed. Your car will break down, the new phone won’t be new forever, and that BFF may stab you in the back. In contrast, Jesus Christ is always there to listen and His love will never get old. He will never leave you or forsake you.

In our culture, people encourage you to ask, “Who am I?” but the only way to gain lasting security is to ask, “Who is He?” We’re challenged to rearrange our hearts’ desires from worrying about what others think toward how God sees us. Human criticism doesn’t hold weight compared to God’s opinion. God defines our worth and He holds us secure in His love.

Colossians 2:10 says, “…in Christ you have been brought to fullness.”
