There's nothing like feeling truly safe. When we're younger, we experience safety when we're tucked in at night or are offered words of reassurance from the trusted adults in our lives. As we get older, though, safety is a lot harder to notice when we experience it.
Talking to God about what's on our minds give us that sense of safety. Yes, it's that simple. When we pray, we can talk to God about the things we're looking forward to, confused about, or hurting from.
Sometimes what we're going through feels like massive waves that are going to overtake us. We're afraid of the damage they could do, and wonder if we'll drown in the aftermath.
There are other times when life hits us, and everything and everyone around us feels unstable. We can't seem to catch our emotional, mental, or spiritual balance.
In these times, it's tempting to walk away from it all and feel as if there's no hope. These are the times the writer David urges us to remember God's strength is with us when we need it most.
God is unwavering and unmovable. When things around us feel unstable, going to God can be the very thing that grounds us.
God is our safe place and our strength. When we forget there is anything to be grateful for, it's God's ability to protect us that helps us see a glimmer of hope.
What areas of your life do you need to take to God in order to feel protected and safe?

About this Plan
At the end of each year, we have the chance to reflect on everything that's happened and all of the people around us. There’s so much we can be thankful for every year — even if things didn’t work exactly how we planned. God has given us so much, and the birth of Jesus is a great way to focus on all of the gifts we’ve received this year.
