DAY 2 OF 7

DAY 2: BIBLE

The Bible is one of the most incredible books that the world has ever seen.

Throughout history, there has never been a book like it, and there are many reasons to believe that the Bible is not just another book, but something of more significance. The Bible is the best-selling book of all time, selling approximately 100 million copies worldwide every year. It is the most sought after - and stolen book - in history, and continues to be the most widely read of any book the world has ever seen. Just the demand alone suggests that there is something more to the Bible than we think.

The Bible is also one of the most widely supported historical documents in history. Scholars, archaeologists, theologians and historians all support the historical accuracy of the Bible. In addition to this, hundreds of prophecies given throughout the Bible have eventuated and transpired, showing that the Bible is not just historical, but prophetically accurate.

The Bible was written over a 1600-year span, across 3 different continents, in 3 different languages, by over 40 different authors from different backgrounds, stories, and situations. Somehow, the Bible was still written with complete harmony and still communicates one overarching message. This tells us that there is something or someone greater at work.

Although there were many authors, the fingerprints of God can be clearly seen throughout the scripture, and this is why Christians believe that the Bible is ultimately inspired and authored by God. God spoke divinely and supernaturally to each writer, and over time the collection of historical stories, letters, poems, and prophecies all came together to form the story of God’s pursuit of humanity.

The thing that really separates the Bible from any other book known to man is not just its historical accuracy, its prophetic precision, or even its global reach; the thing that makes the Bible different is that it IS the Word of God.

We believe that the Bible is the infallible and irrevocable word of God. The word of God has the power to change lives, restore relationships, bring healing, and change stories. For thousands of years, it has been scripture that has spoken life where there isn’t any, and brought hope where hope has been hard to find. Not only has it helped people, and served nations for thousands of years, the Bible is still relevant today. It still addresses issues and feelings we deal with today, as it has been doing for many years.

The Bible is the only book that doesn’t just get read, it reads us. It is not just a corporate book meant for the church, but it is a personal book that challenges us, encourages us, stirs us, edifies us, grows us, and speaks directly into our daily lives.

Someone once said that the Bible is the only book where the author is present every time you read it. Reading God’s word helps us to become more aware of His presence. Every time we open the scripture, we open up a dialogue between Heaven and Earth, God and us. Our hearts become receptive to His voice, and we begin to know God more than we did before.

In a nutshell, the Bible is God’s love letter to humanity. It is the story of a Father who gave up His Son for the World. At the center of this story is Jesus. Every page, every book, every chapter, every verse – everything points to Jesus. Our prayer is that as you open the word, you would also open your heart. Don’t just read the Bible, but let the Bible read you.

PRAYER:
Dear God, thank You for Your Word. Thank You that it has the power to change lives and transform hearts. I pray that Your Word would speak to me today in a powerful way. Let it encourage me, challenge me, and change me from the inside out. Help my heart to be receptive to Your Word and let me become more aware of Your voice. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
