ExodusSample

Moses is born and his mother places him in a small “basket” and sends him down the river Nile. The word that gets translated as “basket” here in Hebrew is tevah and it is the same word for the “ark” of Noah.
Noah’s ark was a plan for a new Eden, a new creation, and so it is with Moses. Humanity and animals were in harmony on the ark above the waters of chaos. In an empire that wants to kill him, Moses is placed in another “ark” which leads him right into the very center of that empire. The new creation that God will make is by setting apart Moses, and by extension the people of Israel, to be his own.
The Hebrews groan under the oppression of slavery and cried out, it doesn’t even say that this was to God, but God hears their groans and resolves to do something.
