One Thing Leads to Another

DAY 7 OF 7

Destiny: Believing that God is Weaving Everything Together

Reflect

Joseph’s radical forgiveness was so surprising that his brothers wondered if he’d change his mind. But Joseph refused to put himself in God’s place. He entrusted justice to the only perfect Judge. This humility was made possible by Joseph’s perspective on life. Even through trial and trouble, he was able to see the bigger picture: that God is always weaving everything together for our good and His glory.

If Joseph’s brothers hadn’t betrayed him, he likely wouldn’t have ended up in Pharaoh’s court. God didn’t cause Joseph’s pain, but He turned his tragedy into triumph. One thing lead to another, and eventually Joseph’s darkest hours became God’s provision for an entire nation. Faith is trusting that God is so wise and so in-control that anything meant for evil He can work out for good.

React

Give God gratitude for Joseph’s powerful story and ask that He would give you faith to trust in His loving sovereignty.

As you conclude this plan, take some time to write out and meditate on this prayer for yourself:

“Father, thank you for Joseph’s example. I trust you. Will you help me see the best next step? And when I am in trouble, will you please remind me of the truth in this story? Thank you for your grace. Please help me to forgive others as you have forgiven me. I love you. Amen.”

Day 6

About this Plan

One Thing Leads to Another

We all experience highs and lows in life. Sometimes our circumstances are hard to understand, and it feels impossible to see through to the other side. But Jesus calls us to live a faithful life, even when it isn't easy. Joseph's story, as told in the Book of Genesis, holds many lessons that can help us make sense of where we are and learn to trust God in the ups and downs.
