DAY 3 OF 7

Distractions: Refusing to Settle for Less than God’s Best

Reflect

Joseph’s situation improved as he faithfully worked in Potiphar’s household. Suddenly, he was given a position of power and influence. Do you think he might’ve wondered if this was the fulfillment of the dream God had given him?

The Lord was with Joseph during this time. Things were going really well! But He wasn’t done weaving together Joseph’s story. Moments like these can tempt us toward a complacent mindset. It’s important to listen for God’s voice even in calm and prosperous seasons. We honor Him by refusing to settle for less than what He’s promised. The path you’re considering may not be bad, but is it best? Periods of success and renewal are opportunities to build up resistance against the devil’s schemes.

React

1. What are God’s promises?

2. How has God been faithful in your life?

3. What can you do to make sure you don’t become complacent?

About this Plan

One Thing Leads to Another

We all experience highs and lows in life. Sometimes our circumstances are hard to understand, and it feels impossible to see through to the other side. But Jesus calls us to live a faithful life, even when it isn't easy. Joseph's story, as told in the Book of Genesis, holds many lessons that can help us make sense of where we are and learn to trust God in the ups and downs.
