Echo of GodSample
Echo of deeds
Who you really are is not shown in your words. It is shown in your deeds. Jesus came to this world to give us a perfect example. For millennia, his words have echoed throughout the ages. And even more so his deeds. He didn't just speak of God's new world. He brought it to us. It became visible, in his daily life. He did not only speak of love. He was God's love made touchable. He did not only speak about the price of discipleship. He also paid it. He did not only speak of suffering, but went all the way to the cross. Even more than his words, his actions show what God is like.
As a follower of Jesus, what matters is not what you say. What matters is what you do. James writes about this in his letter: "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." Yesterday we talked about God's love for you. You are called to be an echo of that love. Your actions are the echo that is heard by others. You touch and inspire people around you. With your echo of love you show them the way to the one who loves them unconditionally. You show them God. Your actions are always louder than words. Be an echo of God's love that is visible in deeds!
