40 Days of Spiritual RebootSample

I want to challenge you to the next level. This is serious stuff and we may not be ready for it spiritually or any other way either. But knowing there is another level… another gear… to move to, might challenge us to manoeuvre our way to terrain that actually requires this gear. I’m talking about spiritual warfare. Most believers do not know what is at stake. They often go about their normal lives thinking that their little quiet self preserving lives doesn’t matter or make a difference in the grand scheme of things. The scripture says that you were called out of darkness into His glorious light, you were bought with a great price, you were called to a great task, you are in-dwelt with the Spirit of promise and you are holy unto God. The scripture also teaches that God is at work reconciling a world to himself. We learn that Satan is opposing all God’s work, God's people and God’s purposes. He is disguised as an angel of light and is deceiving the world. We finally learn that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers of the air.

We see this here in Ephesians 6.
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Let me remind us of my goal in this 40 Days series. I’m not teaching theology in this forum but talking about renewing our habits for spiritual growth. So everything… absolutely everything is built on theology, our knowledge and understanding of God based on his revelation of himself to us through His word and the Living Word, Jesus. Heresy itself is also built on theology. So I’m not debating anyone here. If you disagree with me and are sure of what you believe… two thumbs up to you. I’m not here to dictate 'your theology’ but in guiding people to spiritual renewal, I can’t deny ‘my own’. Hope that makes sense.

OPEN YOUR BIBLE

Let me break it down today with this one passage from Ephesians:

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

‘His might’ is the focus here. We have not been called to fight. We’ve been called to stand. This is because the battle is the Lords and he wants us to be the last man standing because he is our banner and he fights for us. We will explore in the following days, how we can participate in the fight and share in the win... through prayer.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.— Our protection has already been given to us and most of it is the WORD of God.

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,— People aren’t our enemy. It seems like it. We definitely make it look like that. But they aren’t. This battle is spiritual. It is not in the physical realm. So it must be fought with spiritual weapons.

“...but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. — Our wrestling is with authorities beyond us in the spiritual realm. If we are pitted against them... one has to ask the question… are we authorised as well? If not? What chance do we have?

13 Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.Since this is the case… we don’t leave any area uncovered and susceptible to attack. We wear the whole armour.

COME CLEAN

Rejoice in the armour that is available to you. While it is true that there is a battle and that we are under attack… it is equally true that there is an armour and the battle won’t last forever. Because the scripture says… ‘and stand firm’.
