Theology for Everybody: Romans

DAY 30 OF 365

All creation came into existence because “God said,” “God said,” and “God said.” Then “it was so,” “it was so,” and “it was so” (see Genesis 1). God has chosen preaching as His mechanism to deliver the message about His Son, Jesus Christ. The gospel must be preached and proclaimed. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (see Romans 10:17).

When Paul says he is going to preach the gospel to Christians, it is for two reasons:

1. There are always some Christians who don’t know it and need to hear it.

2. There are always some Christians who forget it.

Here are nine important facts about the gospel:

1. The gospel is true, unlike many things we hear in the news and on social media.

2. The gospel is good news, and since our world is filled with constant bad news, we could use some hope.

3. The gospel is powerful, and the world, since it has a lot of problems, needs God’s power.

4. The gospel is helpful because it tells us who the problem is (us) and who the solution is (Jesus).

5. The gospel is worth our devotion, unlike every other parade or hashtag that identifies Team Satan.

6. The gospel is about how Jesus is unashamed to call us His friend in public, so we should never be ashamed to do the same. If anyone should be embarrassed, it should be Him because of us, but somehow, He still chooses us.

7. The gospel has worked for thousands of years, unlike the never-ending parade of human innovation.

8. The gospel is about Jesus, and since most people are sick of talking about politicians and celebrities, they need to have someone else to talk about. He is worth talking about.

9. The gospel is about God’s Kingdom, and our planet is officially a dumpster fire, in the middle of a prison riot, sitting on a minefield. It needs a rescue.

About this Plan

Theology for Everybody: Romans

After Pastor Mark got saved in his college dorm room reading the book of Romans, this 365-day devotional is the culmination of more than 30 years of studying this incredible book. Chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse, this book digs into topics covered in the great book of Romans, such as justification, grace, predestination, legalism, deconstruction, and more.
