Women of Welcome: Christ-Like WelcomeSample
Welcome that Extends Grace
Thoughtful Questions:
1. Traditionally, Jews would journey around Samaria in order to travel north and south in the region. But Jesus led his disciples through Samaria in order to show welcome to a woman they would have intentionally avoided otherwise. Who might you be feeling led to welcome that you usually avoid?
2. The woman from Samaria was going about her daily routines when she encountered Jesus at Jacob’s well. Grace often comes to us at unexpected times. Can you recall any unexpected moments when grace came to you?
3. What effect does this one encounter with Jesus have on the Samaritan woman? On the people in her town? On his disciples?

About this Plan
The welcome of Christ was astonishing to the culture around him. He gave voice to the speechless, frustrated the powerful, and humbled the wise. As Christians, our welcome should be like his– wonderfully surprising, deeply challenging, and firmly rooted in love. This five-week study explores the complicated and beautiful welcome of Jesus toward his most beloved creation, human beings. Jump in with us, individually or with a small group, and let’s transform how we show welcome.
